Built-in, isolated inspection
Files that require specialised processing are inspected in an isolated part of PANScout to reduce security risk. Everything required is built in, so there is nothing extra to install and results do not depend on separate software or local tool versions.
Limited by design
Both the desktop application and command line are limited to defined PANScout operations. Inputs are validated before use, and neither interface exposes general system access or arbitrary command execution. This reduces the impact of malicious or unexpected content.
Designed for offline operation
The system running PANScout can start a trial, activate a paid licence and run scans without internet access. This makes PANScout well suited to restricted or isolated environments.

Any scanner permitted to inspect sensitive systems deserves the same scrutiny as other security software. Use these questions with PANScout or any alternative. The answers should be specific enough to support an approval, not left as assumptions.
Can the exact package be verified before it runs?
Confirm the publisher, product version, operating-system signature, published checksum and download source. PANScout provides a package-specific SHA-256 checksum alongside every platform download.
Does deployment fit your normal security controls?
Decide how the software will be approved, malware-checked, introduced, updated and removed, including when removable media is used. PANScout uses platform-specific packages so a team can approve a defined release.
Can it operate without weakening payment-environment isolation?
PANScout can start a trial, activate a paid licence and run scans without internet access. It does not require a connection to PANScout or a remote scanning service, so teams do not need to create a new outbound route from an isolated payment environment.
Can you account for what the scanner executes?
PANScout includes its fixed document and OCR components. It does not depend on separately installed scanning tools or expose a general-purpose command interface.
Where do files, extracted content and results go?
PANScout processes selected content locally. Source data, extracted content, findings, review notes and reports are not sent to PANScout or a remote scanning service.
Does the scanner create another store of card data?
PANScout may process full card numbers in memory, but it persists findings only in masked form and does not include complete card numbers in reports or diagnostics.
Does the result disclose limitations as well as findings?
PANScout records an outcome for every selected file and identifies content that was not fully inspected, keeping coverage evidence alongside findings and review decisions.
